Earlier this week, we put out the word on twitter about a new Friday feature at Field Assignment. Every week, we'll showcase an #Ag Tweet of the Week, the 140 characters that just seemed to stand out from the pack.
Almost immediately, we started receiving many worthy (and some just plain interesting) nominations:
@russfarm had 140 characters of twittery gratitude for hens and hogs
@lisabeth515 wanted to thank farmers everywhere for feeding the world
@mpaynknoper used one of her tweets to stress the need for ag advocacy
@derekbalsley had a similar message for his followers
@foodprovider featured an unarguably unique nature-themed tweet
In the end, however, we couldn't resist the tweet from @SFSustainFood, who asked the tantalizing question: "Anyone out there tweeting from their tractor like @MassOrganics"? Apparently, a California organic rice farmer's tweets direct from his tractor were recently featured in the San Francisco Examiner.
And with that, the nomination process for next week's #Ag Tweet of the Week has officially begun.
