* It’s a time when you have to call the county to drain the large, lake-like body of water that has accumulated too close to your barn. Cows aren’t the best swimmers, and ducks can find habitat elsewhere.
* It’s a time when you and your mom take bets as to how quickly your dad will bury the tractor when attempting to plow. Loser calls the neighbor to pull him out.
* It’s a time when kids start calling “dibs” on show heifers. Last one to the pasture gets the summer yearling that could be easily mistaken for a dairy steer.
* It’s a time when you can finally take the 4 wheeler out and subsequently cover it (and yourselves) in mud so completely that your mom won’t even let you in the garage.
