An Effective Counter to Perceptual Whiplash?
In its coverage of the recent Cal Poly dairy symposium in San Luis Obispo, California, Dairy Herd Management reports that "the 'Happy Cows come from California' commercials, produced by the California Milk Advisory Board, came under repeated criticism from speakers."
The article goes on to quote Charlie Arnot, chief executive officer for the Center for Food Integrity: "If we continue to use old iconic images of the dairy industry, we're giving consumers perceptual whiplash."
Perhaps in an attempt to counter this perceptual whiplash, we noticed that about a month ago, RealCaliforniaMilk.com started sharing a new series of videos, including the one above, that profiles "Real California Dairy Families."
What do you think of the original commercials? Do they cause perceptual whiplash? And do you feel the new videos provide appropriate perspective?

I really enjoyed the video about real California dairy farms. Producers like Perry not only show consumers his passion and dedication to the dairy industry, but also what life on a real dairy farm is like.
The dairy industry needs more Perry's to tell their story and not be afraid to share what life is like for real dairy farmers.
