In light of last week’s news report questioning the health and well-being of dairy cows, one group of producers is working hard to provide consumers with the real story about production agriculture and animal well-being.Farm2U was started by group of producers who want to connect people with the farmers and ranchers growing and raising their food. They’ve started Facebook and Twitter pages that allow anyone to ask questions about farming and production agriculture; they also post blogs, videos and articles telling the story of modern agricultural production. Seven different farmers contribute to the social media outlets, representing the dairy industry, swine operations, cattle ranchers and a grain farmer.
Farm2U has over 1,600 Facebook fans and more than 780 Twitter followers and both social media groups continue to grow their reach daily. First-hand education from the hands growing and raising the food we eat continues to provide consumers with the knowledge they crave when making purchasing decisions.
