Want to know where your milk is from? An enterprising student at Brigham Young University has developed a new website that will help you find out. Trevor Fitzgerald, a BYU senior studying information systems, is smartly putting his education to use with a practical application that directly responds to increased consumer demand for information.

All you have to do is enter the code on the milk container and the site quickly matches the code to the milk’s point of origin. There’s even a Google map that pinpoints the processing plant (or creamery, if you’re tracing cheese).

According to a news brief on the website from Dairy Herd Management, this information has always been available to consumers via the USDA, but only in a mega-document that is not exactly user-friendly.
