Vet Students Get Face Time On Capitol Hill

On March 1 – 3, every U.S. vet school sent two students to Washington, D.C., for the first National Vet Student Legislative Day. On the agenda was a discussion about the National Veterinary Medical Services Act (NVMSA) and how to put some much needed umph behind it. 

The program—enacted in 2003—is meant to provide student loan repayments to those who agree to practice as food animal or public health vets. Unfortunately, little (pretty much  nothing) has happened since 2003. Which is exactly why it was so important to get some face time with members of the U.S. House and Senate.
